Vin Diesel is Mark Sinclair Vincent
Fast and Furious actor has a name straight out of a tractor catalog. Mark began using the Diesel persona as a nightclub bouncer, shortening a surname he received from adoptive parents as his first name to honor them. The Diesel portion was given to him by friends, who said Vin was always full of energy.
Rock Hudson is Roy Harold Scherer
In the history of Hollywood has there ever been a more manly moniker than Rock Hudson? Leroy Sherer does not come close, that much is certain. In interviews Hudson admitted he did not like the stage name, which talent agent Henry Willson supposedly created by combining two geographic sites in the Rock of Gibraltar and the Hudson River.
Woody Allen is Allan Stewart Konigsberg
In German, Konigsberg means King’s Mountain, and Woody did become king of the hill for a while with a slew of neurotic New York centric films. Instead of someone in the industry giving the director, screenwriter, actor and author his name it was Woody himself who legally changed it to Heywood Allen at age 17.
