21 Good Things That Happened In 2016

There’s no doubt about it: 2016 sucked. But that doesn’t mean that the good things that happened in this otherwise hellacious year should go unnoticed. For instance, in September of 2016, giant pandas were taken off the endangered species list. Although they are still considered vulnerable, the total population now exceeds 2,000, thanks to the Chinese government’s intensive actions. The world would definitely be a bleaker place without these adorable guys.

SpaceX stuck their landing! In a dramatic feat straight out the movies, SpaceX successfully landed a reusable Falcon 9 rocket, vertically, onto a ship at sea off the coast of Florida. The future is here, people.

Juarez, Mexico, long known as one of the world’s most dangerous cities, finally saw crime rates decrease in 2016… a lot. In 2010, homicides topped out at 3,766. In 2015, it was down to 256. This year, Juárez fell off the list of the 50 most violent cities in the world. Now, kids can play outside again.
