4. The Last Airbender (2010)
M. Night Shyamalan is one of those directors who makes you wonder how he continues to be allowed to direct. While he’s had a bit of a comeback with last year’s successful Split starring James McAvoy, he’s got a long list of commercial and critical failures before that. Ask anyone who watched the original cartoon series this film is based on, and they’ll be happy to tell you how terrible this movie is in comparison. With actors that look nothing like the original characters (thanks to much white-washing in the casting), fans of the original series generally boycotted it. It’s a cringe-fest to say the least.
5. Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
The Star Wars Holiday Special is so famously bad that for many years George Lucas himself was embarrassed; it only aired once on television and then never again. And you know that if the man who created Jar Jar Binks is embarrassed by something he created, it must be bad. It was never released on DVD until recently, giving it a certain mystique. Thankfully for us, it’s been pretty easily accessible online for the last several years. Just simply looking at images from the special will sum up the wonderful cringe fest viewers will experience.
6. The Twilight Saga (2008-2012)
Because all of the Twilight films feel basically the same, we’ve lumped all four into one here. Based on the bestsellers about a forbidden human/vampire romance, the series has since lost much of its popularity, but the Twilight fever several years ago was not to be underestimated. Watching the films, you can tell the cast is hating every minute of it and that they’re all basically trapped in hell together. The best way to watch? Turn on the DVD commentary. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart provide some amazing, self-deprecating snark that’s far more entertaining than the actual movie.
