English actor and Animal Circus band member Joel Fry had an important cameo in GoT. The 33-year-old star played Hizdahr zo Loraq, a former slave trader from the city of Mereen, who was killed off in the fifth season of the show. Hizdahr was betrothed to none other than the Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen.

Though Hizdahr was engaged to be married to the Khaleesi, fans had predicted that the two would never really get married, as Daenerys had no feelings for him. Also, marriage to him would complicate the plot of the show. In the show, Hizdahr is killed off by the Sons of Harpy in a fighting pit sequence. But in the books, Hizdahr is alive, but imprisoned.

Headbangers had a ball, when they spotted their favourite American heavy metal band Mastodon in GoT’s Wildling vs White Walkers battle of Season 5 Episode 8. Band members Brann Dailor, Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher played soldiers in the Wildlings army (bassist Troy Sanders was not part of the show), and fought in the epic battle. Interestingly, all three Mastodon men were brutally killed off in the war.

Mastodon also contributed a track to the Game of Thrones mixtape, Catch the Throne Vol. II, which accompanies the show. The song was called “White Walker.”
